The functionality available to PL/SQL and SQL developers has evolved over the subsequent releases of the Oracle Database. The improvements allowed for faster development, richer functionality and better performing code - as well as establishing the role of the database in multi-tier applications and SOA architectures. Areas of recent improvements include core SQL (joining, subquery factoring, PL/SQL integration), Flashback, Data Mining, zero downtime application upgrades, XML manipulation, inbound and outbound HTTP processing including SOAP and RESTful Web Services, fine grained auditing and authorization, and PL/SQL language extensions. This session demonstrates some of the most useful recent additions to the database for application developers - including some that are introduced in the Oracle Database 12c Release.
Objectives
- Bring SQL and PL/SQL developers up to speed with the very latest features available in the Oracle DB
- Position the Oracle Database as Application Development platform (in multi-tiered architecture)
- Demonstrate how the latest release of Oracle DB can be put to good use for app development purposes
